There are 3 areas that we profile, so you may NOT be a specific temperament in the area that you think you are! Please contact The Penewit Center for an accurate profile of all 3 areas of your complete Temperament.
The Supine temperament is the 5th temperament that was identified in 1984 by The National Christian Counselors Association. Since man has worked with the theory of temperament (beginning with the ancient BC Greek philosophers ) the 5th temperament (the Supine) has only been around for a few short years. Man has used temperament for hundreds of years but it was not accurate as a tool for counseling therapy until the identification of this 5th Temperament. NOTE: There are many definitions for the word Supine, however we will ONLY use the definition as noted by The N.C.C.A.
The definition of the Supine is; "Lying on the back, or with the face turned upward". The Supine is a bowing temperament, seeing everyone else as valuable and themselves as almost worthless. The Supine see themselves as people who serve other people. The Supine temperament behavior is so extremely unique that it demanded a type classification of it's own. Dr. W. H. and Rev. Linda R. Penewit specialize in working with Supines and their families/significant others.
Research shows that most persons who score in the area of Supine are females but does not exclude males, however, males seldom come for help unless they are told to do so by their loved ones. Dependent males in our society live through much pain and rejection because they live in a society where men are supposed to be dominant and capable of leadership. In general, supines are followers and not leaders, they have difficulties in making decisions and are most comfortable when they are not in leadership roles.
As with each temperament, the Supine has strenghts and weaknesses that must be learned. As they begin to learn about how God created them to be, they can begin to accept the true gifts that God gave them. As the Supine begins to learn and meet their temperament needs, they find that the stress that they have always lived with begins to leave them thus creating a more peaceful life.
